Kauai is the Garden Isle

Formed over six million years ago, Kauai is roughly 550 square miles in area and is the northernmost of the Hawaiian Islands. Kauai is the oldest island, so erosion is the most advanced. From the air, Kauai looks like a huge, melting green ice cream sundae.

There are five main regions on Kauai: North Shore, Coconut Coast, Lihue and Kalapaki area, South Shore and the West Coast. The West Coast is home to Waimea Canyon, ten miles long and about 3,600 feet deep, called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. The South Shore has some of the best body surfing beaches in the world and the sunniest climate on Kauai. Kalapaki and Lihue are the main population centers of Kauai and contains some of the most breathtaking natural beauty of Kauai, such as the majestic Wailua Falls. This area, along with the he Coconut Coast, have large shopping centers and lots of hotels and motels right on the beaches.

As you continue around the North Shore of Kauai, you pass Lumahai Beach, Hanalei Bay, and Kee Beach, scenes of some of the most famous movies, like South Pacific, The Thorn Birds, and Indiana Jones. At the end of the road, you will come to the famous Na Pali Coast. Cliffs rise to 4,000 feet and are accessible by hiking the beautiful Kalalau Trail, by sea or by helicopter. There are no roads.

Ecotourism provides sustainable practices that protect the lush Hawaiian environment, employ local workers and brings visitors and tourism dollars to the islands. No matter which area you prefer, Kauai Ecotourism Vacation Rentals has accommodations close to it.

Texan Saved the French Wine Industry

Many people do not know that Texas has many premiere wine grape growing areas and that a Texan actually saved the French Wine industry.

In the late 1800’s, the transplanting of vines from European & American vines, resulted in the devastation of the French vineyards. This blight was caused by Phylloxera, a louse that invades the root system of the grape vines.Thomas V. Munson, a Texas agriculturist who experimented with cultivation of over 300 grape varieties. He provided an improved, more resistant root stock onto which the French could graft their vines. For this accomplishment, T.V. Munson was given the Legion of Merit, their highest civilian award.

The Texas Hill Country Wine Trail is a great way to discover Texas wines. If you visit the Texas Hill Country Wineries website, you can view a map and plan your trip.

Are You Lonesome Tonight?

I am happily married now, but there was a long while during which I was a single parent. It was difficult to make friends with other Single Parents, because there was not an online world like there is today.

I joined Parents Without Partners and that was an absolutely rotten experience. There was this one man, the president of the chapter (who I do not believe ever had kids), that hit on all the single moms. I decided I would rather be alone than be a target. LOL

Today, there are many ways for single moms and dads to meet. One website, singlemomsanddads.com, sponsor of this poste, allows you to register for free, set up your profile, and then search through the profiles that match your preferences.

The pictures on the profiles look like everyday people, unlike some other sites I have seen. I think it is a great way to get back into social interaction. You may want to check it out. The person of your dreams may be signing up at this minute.
