Annual lighting of 100,000+ lights at the Blanco County Courthouse on Friday. One million lights twinkling in the trees around Pedernales Electric Coop’s Headquarters on Ave F. This is a week long celebration. Check out the website for more details.

Christmas at Boyhood Home of LBJ
Saturdays: November 24, December 1, December 8 and December 15, 2007
Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park

Enjoy a traditional Christmas in this historic home, all decked out for a Christmas celebration in the 1920s from 6-9 pm. each evening. On these four Saturdays, the LBJ Boyhood Home will be lamp lit, giving visitors an opportunity to experience family life at the Johnsons’ house as it was more than eighty years ago.

As a special treat on December 8 only, visitors can board the shuttle bus for a ride to the Johnson Settlement, to enjoy an 1860s frontier Christmas in the exhibit hall. Visit the Sam Ealy Johnson cabin, where Lyndon Johnson’s grandparents first homesteaded in 1869.

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. The park has two visitor areas separated by about 14 miles: the Johnson Settlement/Visitor Center/Boyhood Home/Park Headquarters in Johnson City and the LBJ Ranch near Stonewall.



2007-2008 Trout Stocking Schedule

In December 2007 through March 2008, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department stocks Texas lakes and ponds with Trout. Click to view the 2007-2008 Trout Stocking Schedule by county.

  • Stocking dates are subject to change. Always contact the hatchery stocking location. Phone numbers for hatcheries are listed at the bottom of page.
  • Trout anglers will need the $5 Freshwater Fishing Stamp, which is included in all freshwater license packages. Anglers under 17 years of age are not required to have a license and don’t need to purchase a stamp.
  • Licenses and stamps are not required when fishing within a Texas State Park.
  • Statewide Regulations: No Minimum Length Limit; Daily Bag = 5 trout

The Texas Hill Country River Region (THCRR) will be stocking thousands of rainbow trout plus a large number of lunker rainbows (2-5 lb class) at on the Nueces River.

Prizes will be great for fishermen catching rainbows during the Trout Days tournament. Three separate contest divisions are offered including youth, fly fishing only and open tackle division.

Of course, you may always fish the crystal clear waters for black bass, bluegills and the Guadalupe Bass.
