Free Tail bats take to the sky at duskBatFest

Austin, Texas
Saturday, September 1, 2007 (2 pm to midnight)
Sunday, September 2, 2007 (2-10 pm)

Party on the Congress Street Bridge over Town Lake during BatFest. Congress Bridge will be closed and there will be a music in the air from the stages at either end of the bridge.

Between the stages is where the party happens. Visit arts & crafts and food booths while the kids participate in activities. Wear a bat costume and enter the contest! Bring your cameras!

Watch 1.5 million Free Tail Bats exit from under the bridge at dusk.

$4 admission, Kids 10 and under FREE. Proceeds benefit Bat Conservation International.

    @sandra-Bats are our friends. They eat millions of mosquitos every night. While you do not want to walk under the bridge, being on top of the bridge is a wonderful view point.

    @cincymusic-They won’t hurt you. They are good creatures in spite of all the vampire movies…LOL!

    @rosemary-Isn’t that web creepy? The thing keeps growing and growing. however, it is catching lots of mosquitoes, so I guess its okay.

    That is an incredible picture, but contrasting. Such a beautiful sunset with such a scary looking creature!

    The picture looks so beautiful, though I’m not really fond of bats. But I guess it’s still a lovely place to visit for all any passport holder who can drop by Texas.
