What is the only thing you cannot do in a hammock?

A good way to enjoy the natural world is by lying in a hammock. There is nothing more comfortable than a hammock strung between two shade trees beneath the blue sky or hung from rocky outcroppings beneath the desert stars. If you cannot find two trees or a convenient rock, you may use a lightweight aluminum stand.

Hammocks also travel well. Hammocks made of nylon and polyester are more durable and fade resistant than cotton, but everyone seems to like the classic rope hammock. The problem with rope hammocks is the marks you get from the ropes and knots. Also, children can get their arms and legs trapped in between ropes, and that is dangerous.

Did you know that it is possible to buy specially designed hammocks for camping with built-in mosquito netting and rain canopies? If you are considering buying a camping hammock, you will want to buy a fabric hammock, which is more comfortable than a hammock made of rope. Buy a large hammock, complete with mosquito netting and a large rain canopy.

Visit Hammocks Rock, sponsors of this post, for all the information on the different types of hammocks. BTW, what is the only thing you cannot do in a hammock? Smoke.

@paul-I had to have a hook! We all have almost genetic memories of hammocks.

Oh come on, there has to be at least one other thing that doesn’t work that well, lol.

But they really are great. I have vague but very nostalgic memories of using one at somebody else’s house as a young child. For all I know somebody stuck me in it, it’s an early memory.

And there’s nothing like looking at the sky.
