Kauai is the Garden Isle

Formed over six million years ago, Kauai is roughly 550 square miles in area and is the northernmost of the Hawaiian Islands. Kauai is the oldest island, so erosion is the most advanced. From the air, Kauai looks like a huge, melting green ice cream sundae.
There are five main regions on Kauai: North Shore, Coconut Coast, Lihue and Kalapaki area, South Shore and the West Coast. The West Coast is home to Waimea Canyon, ten miles long and about 3,600 feet deep, called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. The South Shore has some of the best body surfing beaches in the world and the sunniest climate on Kauai. Kalapaki and Lihue are the main population centers of Kauai and contains some of the most breathtaking natural beauty of Kauai, such as the majestic Wailua Falls. This area, along with the he Coconut Coast, have large shopping centers and lots of hotels and motels right on the beaches.
As you continue around the North Shore of Kauai, you pass Lumahai Beach, Hanalei Bay, and Kee Beach, scenes of some of the most famous movies, like South Pacific, The Thorn Birds, and Indiana Jones. At the end of the road, you will come to the famous Na Pali Coast. Cliffs rise to 4,000 feet and are accessible by hiking the beautiful Kalalau Trail, by sea or by helicopter. There are no roads.
Ecotourism provides sustainable practices that protect the lush Hawaiian environment, employ local workers and brings visitors and tourism dollars to the islands. No matter which area you prefer, Kauai Ecotourism Vacation Rentals has accommodations close to it.
