Texas Wildflowers and Spring Blooming Trees
Last week we were at Lake Conroe and then, on the way home, we stopped at Giddings for two days. On Monday, March 12, we drove home to San Marcos.
On this trip to and from Lake Conroe, we saw the first blooms of Bluebonnets and some Indian Paint Brushes in Washington County, FM 2679 near FM 390 and a few miles southeast of Chappell Hill on Sauney Chapel Rd. In Bastrop County on Highway 290, past Highway 77, the roadsides were beginning to bloom with Bluebonnets and Indians Paintbrushes.
The rains of the past few days will help the bloom of wildflowers this spring. Just in time for your viewing pleasure at various festivals in April. Of course, you do not have to attend a festival to celebrate the beauty of wildflowers, you can always just take a road trip to view the scenery.

Enjoyed reading this blog very much. I visited Texas in the spring several years ago and fell completely in love with the natural wealth of the state. Particularly enjoyable were the Ladybird Center and the Kerr Botanical Garden. I will continue to read this blog with interest and dream of visiting Texas again someday.

You describe a different Texas from the Texas I recall from childhood, driving straight as an arrow across in the summer on US 80. I’d love to see it as you describe!
