The Austin Museum Partnership (AMP) has a wonderful website where you may discover information and links to most of the museums located in area. Click here for the $2 virtual tour, which will open in a new window.
I hope to see Native Waters: Sacred Springs, an exhibit about the Tonkawa, Caddo, Comanche and Karankawa people and their relationships to Texas springs and rivers. The Sheffield Education Center in Zilker Park hosts this free exhibit until January 21. My husband, Michael has never seen the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum, which is located nearby.
Did you know the Blanton Museum of Art is the largest university art museum in the USA? The Blanton is home to over 17,000 works of art, from paintings by the European Old Masters to modern and contemporary American and Latin American art. Also located on the UT campus is the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center (HRC). HRC contains 30+ million manuscripts and one million+ rare books, including a complete copy of the Gutenburg Bible.
AMP includes art and science museums; historic sites and history museums; nature preserves, natural habitats, and botanical gardens; the University of Texas library, science, and art repositories; a Presidential library; a children’s museum; a museum about Texas music; and the Texas State Capitol.
