Visit the Painted Churches of Fayette County

Painted Church in Praha, outside Schulenburg, Texas The physical manifestation of the beauty and reverence of long ago German, Czech and Wend settlers is as impressive today as in 1800s, when the small farming communities of High Hill, Praha, Ammannsville, Dubina and Freyburg commissioned artists to paint their simple wooden churches.

These artists, remembering the grand and gothic cathedrals of Europe, created a lasting monument to the glory of God, the Painted Churches of Fayette County.
